EMS as the Context of Military OperationsSDR For Strategic COMINT Applications
April 6 | 2 p.m. ET

Across our portfolio of advanced warfighting capabilities, we have trouble seeing the causes of our shared problems due to a long-standing fixation on their symptoms. While our individual technologies are indeed exceptional, our philosophy is becoming obsolete and so our approach is becoming deficient for our circumstances. The Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS), or simply the Spectrum, is no less than the totality of all radiant EM energy, for every purpose, usually referenced by frequency. By its omnipresent and immersive nature, the EMS provides an entire physical system of concepts, objectives and relationships for underwriting strategic advantage in great power competition. However, we must deliberately choose to look beyond our comfortable, popular, localized assumptions to see and take advantage of the EMS’ systemic benefits. With those observations in mind, this discussion will visit our circumstances, challenges and future opportunities for underwriting strategic military superiority through improving our understanding of – and thus our approach to – the Electromagnetic Spectrum domain.

Where Does JADC2 Stand Today?

The topic of Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) always brings up many different perspectives and ideas for its execution and implementation. Ken Miller talks with EW Writer and Analyst Dr. Thomas Withington about the latest developments of JADC2 and its implications for modern warfare.

Dr. Withington is the newsletter editor for Armada International and shares his analysis of what JADC2 is working to accomplish. Ken and Dr. Withington compare how JADC2 would unfold against a strategic competitor like China versus an acute threat like Russia. They also discuss the need for improved inter-service collaboration, the importance of data standardization and risk-management approach when implementing AI and ML technologies, and JADC2’s ability to improve decision-making on the battlefield.
