EW system development is far from immune to the impacts of requirements creep on overall program success. Keeping such add-on requirements from becoming an anchor on delivery timeframes and costs is a constant battle that requires smart tradeoffs at almost every step of the design process. This webinar will present several notional examples on how critical thought can pay significant dividends in managing runaway requirements.

The 57th Annual AOC International Symposium and Convention theme is "All-Domain Operations - Integrating Across the Spectrum." The AOC is soliciting unclassified, Distro-A, original papers from Government, Academia, Industry, Operational Units, and Subject Matter Experts that will be presented at the Annual Symposium. Papers should focus on awareness of the spectrum, understanding its properties, its role in modern day operations, and the ability to command and control effects and operations within the spectrum to fully strategize, plan, and execute all-domain operations.

Paper submissions should focus on the following topic areas:

  • ADO Enablers
  • ADO Spectrum Awareness (C2/IPB/Awareness
  • Manned-Unmanned Teaming
  • ADO Battle Management
  • Collaborative EW
  • Space EW in ADO
  • Directed Energy

Deadline for Submission of Paper Abstracts: July 31

Notification of Acceptance: August 31

Complex Electromagnetic Warfare and the Multi Domain Battle

**AOC EW Europe, originally scheduled to take place on 16-18 June, will now be held at Exhibition Centre Liverpool on 16-18 November 2020. This decision has been made following consultation with key stakeholders, with the agreement that a new dateline would be beneficial to all participants.

View the full statement here.

The 25th AOC EW Europe event in Liverpool will bring together world-leading experts from the military, government, academia and industry. Delegates will progress their understanding of the issues, technology and capabilities that underpin their national Electronic Warfare abilities and allow them to enhance their capabilities both nationally and in international collaborative defence.

The Multi Domain Battlefield (MDB) includes the Electro-magnetic and Information Domains (including cyber operations), as well as the Land, Maritime, Air and Space Domains. The MDB underpins and enables every decision, communication and navigation system as well as defensive and offensive actions. Spectrum management capabilities are vital to all of warfare and especially manoeuvre warfare – we all know that without spectrum dominance the war is lost before it is begun.  New and current threat systems and strategies for defeating them will be considered alongside the technological developments most likely to influence the complex electromagnetic warfare of the future.

Alongside two technical conference streams, the event features an exhibition area for specialist suppliers to showcase their technologies, products and services.

Don't miss this on-site Professional Development Course!

August 6, 2020 | 14:00 - 15:00 EDT (18:00 - 19:00 UTC)

Much of the pioneering work in radio technology was done at "high frequency," and generations of RF engineers, radio operators, and SIGINT specialists cut their teeth on shortwave. But is there still room for HF in the digital world of cellular, satellites, wi-fi, and microwave? This webinar explains why the "lost art" of HF is not only still relevant, but has been making a comeback in recent years, particularly in the area of both local and global communications. A central topic of this presentation is why much of the rebirth of HF is due to advancements in a wide range of fields, such as antenna design and digital modulation schemes, as well improvements in our understanding of propagation and how we can adapt to the challenges of propagation at HF. In addition to these topics, this webinar discusses how the performance and capabilities of HF direction finding / radiolocation have been improved in recent years and why DF has become an important enabler of HF as a modern communications technology.

The Palmetto Roost, in collaboration with Charleston Southern Cybersecurity (CSU), partnered with employees from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and Dixon Hughes Goodman to offer an all-female, CyberPatriot camp the week of June 8, using the Air Force Association’s CyberPatriot curriculum.

CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Education Program created by the Air Force Association to inspire K-12 students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future.

The theme for the 2020 IO/EW Symposium, “All Domain Operations from Competition into Conflict,” will focus on how IO and EW contribute to all-domain warfighting challenges, as well as their contributions to achieving a Free and Open Indo-Pacific during competition. This year’s theme builds on the work of the 6th Annual Symposium in 2017, which focused on the Army’s Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) Concept. The Army’s now well-established MDO Concept focuses on optimizing the land force contribution to a Joint fight in multiple domains, and provides a strong foundation for the development of a Joint All-Domain Operations Concept, both of which are intended to be employed across the spectrum of operations from competition to conflict. The 2020 theme also benefits from the presentations and work accomplished at the 7th Annual Symposium in 2018, focused on the roles of IO and EW in overcoming A2/AD challenges, which are a driver for the development of an All-Domain Operations (ADO) concept.
