LEARN WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Essentials of 21st Century Electronic Warfare Course: July 19-22
This course provides an overview of Electronic Warfare from its roots in Electronic Combat to its contemporary EM Spectrum Warfare applications. Although this is not a technical course aimed at engineers, certain technological principles will be presented in order to baseline attendees and help demonstrate the unique knowledge, skills and abilities that warfare across the EM spectrum requires. This broad-based review of the essentials of Electronic Warfare can help to inform anyone in the military, government or industry who may be involved in strategies for capabilities development, test and evaluation, training or operational support.

NEW: Introducing the Intelligent EW Operations Conference, August 10-11
This new conference, done in conjunction with NMIA, seeks to bring congruency to the EW enterprise by:
  • Enabling the EW community to influence and plan for the future intelligence needs of the next 10 years through a better understanding of intelligence analysis priorities, resources and processes.
  • Enabling system developers to influence these efforts to apply new technologies and prepare for the system need of the next 10 years through a better understanding of intelligence analysis priorities, resources and processes.
  • Enabling the intelligence community to focus their efforts to better integrate with the EW community needs through a better understanding of system development and operational priorities and requirements.
  • Teaching attendees how to understand the intelligence priorities, resources and activities of EW intelligence analysis.

INDUSTRY NEWS: Lockheed-Martin Attack Signals New Era of Cyber Espionage
The network of defense contractor Lockheed-Martin was attacked using counterfeit electronic keys. Since the RSA Security network was hacked and the keys to its SecurID tokens were compromised a few months ago, the world has been waiting for the proverbial other shoe to drop. Well, it dropped. Raytheon Missile Co., Tucson, AZ, is being awarded an $82,972,665 firm-fixed-price contract modification for the Miniature Air Launched Decoy low rate initial production lot four. Work will be performed at Tucson, AZ. AAC/EBJM, Eglin Air Force Base, FL., is the contracting activity (FA8682-10-C-0007, PO0019).

L-3 Communications Corp., dba L-3 Communications Integrated Systems - Waco Platform Integration Division, Waco, TX, is being awarded a $104,059,653 indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for services in support of the P-3, EP-3, and NP-3 sustainment modification and installation program. This effort includes planned maintenance interval, structural replacement and fabrication efforts pertaining to special structural inspection kits, center wing assemblies, Zone 5 kits, and outer wing installations and refurbishments. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, MD, is the contracting activity (N00019-11-D-0017).

EDO Corp., North Amityville, NY, is being awarded a $20,180,992 contract modification for the repair of AN/ALG-161A Radio Frequency Surveillance/Electronic Countermeasures System components; 225 repair contract line items; one contract line item for material; and one contract line item for travel. Work will be performed at North Amityville, NY. 638 SCMG/PKBB, Robins Air Force Base, GA, is the contracting activity (FA8522-09-D-0006, PO0007, exercise option two).

Cobham Defense Electronic Systems, Lowell, MA, is being awarded a $13,263,252 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for the Advanced Wireless Networks for the soldier radio platform. Work will be performed at Lowell, MA. The Air Force Research Laboratory/RIKD, Rome NY, is the contracting activity (FA8750-11-C-0200).

Elbit Systems Ltd.
announced that it was awarded a contract valued at approximately $18.6 million to upgrade the Romanian Air Force's C-130 transport aircraft. According to the agreement, the C-130 aircraft will be installed with various types of advanced electronic systems, including those produced by Elbit Systems' wholly owned subsidiary - Elisra Electronic Systems Ltd.
