Register for the Essentials of 21st Century Electronic Warfare Course, July 19-22 at AOC Headquarters

A number of current developments within EW influence things such as future defense spending, research and development, enhanced intelligence support, and new military command and control architectures. Additionally, EW is being integrated into a much broader range of security operations – Homeland Security, Special Operations and Network Defense, being a few examples.

"The role of technology and rapidly-available COTS systems in EW cannot be overstated; the development of EW capabilities fully hinges on being aware of game-changing technological advances. With the Essentials of 21st Century Electronic Warfare Course, attendees can expect to gain a broadened awareness of how EW can help better prepare them for their job, develop market strategies or function better as part of team," said Mr. Berg.

And for those with an already extensive knowledge on a specific area of EW, the course provides an opportunity to see the larger picture, reflecting what one previous attendee told us on his way out the door at the end of class. "The days of EW being viewed as only a pod strapped onto an airplane are long gone."

When asked what sets the AOC course apart from other introductory EW courses, Mr. Berg’s answered: "I would say 'context' ... many EW courses review technological principles and techniques necessary for EW system development, but don’t compose an adequate picture of the 'why' of EW."

The AOC’s Essentials of 21st Century Electronic Warfare Course includes lesson modules on doctrine and policy, applications with associated mission sets (space, ISR, UAVs, cyber, NAVWAR, directed energy) and operational lessons to complement some of the more technical lessons on antennas, radar, communication modulations and Electronic Attack techniques. References to current DoD issuances (memos, policy, instructions), Joint doctrine and program announcements are included throughout the course, so that the course better reflects the evolving nature of EW rather than merely its static scientific underpinnings.

For more information on the course and to sign up, visit the AOC website at www.crows.org. The next course is scheduled for July 19-22 at the AOC Headquarters in Alexandria, Va.

This concludes our series on Mr. Berg and the Essentials of 21st Century Electronic Warfare Course.
