EDUCATING THE SPECTRUM WARRIOR: Harnessing STEM & Spectrum Management Conference this August in Fort Walton Beach, FL

This inaugural conference addresses key Special Operation’s concerns about tomorrow’s EMS battlespace, specifically the programming, planning and execution of operational Special Operations Forces within the EMS across all domains. This highly charged aspect of the conference will have presentations from SOF senior leaders, operators and programmers. Declining SOF budgets make it imperative that government, industry and academia come together to demonstrate innovation in speedy acquisition and development of critical EMS enabling capabilities.

Senior leaders from Congress, OSD, military services, research labs and other government organizations will then discuss and engage attendees on the vital role science, technology, engineering and mathematics play on preparing military operations and personnel. The goal of the STEM portion of the conference supports OSD’s focus and vision: to safeguard our nation's security by developing world-class STEM talent in science, mathematics, technology and engineering. It is critical for SOF that students pursue STEM careers and advance basic scientific research. DoD has a long history of supporting STEM initiatives at local, regional and national levels; STEM education is essential for the U.S. to remain the economic and technological leader of the 21st century global marketplace.

In addition to the two days of unclassified presentations and discussions, attendees are encouraged to sign up to attend the complimentary classified day held by AFSOC on Thursday.
