The major concepts of Radar and Electronic Warfare (EW) are presented. The radar material based on the text is followed by EW materials collected by the instructor. The participant gains a comprehensive understanding of both radar and EW.

Day 2: FM Ranging, Doppler Effect

Day 3: Signal Interception and the Environment
-Electronic Support (ES)
-Direct Detection (Crystal Video), Superhet and Other Receivers
-Direction Finding and Emitter Location
 
Day 4: Noise and Deception Jamming
-Chaff, Decoys and Stealth Aspects
-Towed and Expendable Jammers
-Communications Jamming
-Effectiveness Evaluation
-EW Data Bases
 
Who Should Attend: A valuable course for both new and experienced workers in the EW field.  It provides understanding and insights into the concepts and methods of EW.
 
Text: Participants receive Introduction to Airborne Radar, Second Edition, by George W. Stimson. (Scitech Publishing, 1998) and a detailed set of notes.
 
Instructor: Richard G. Wiley, Ph.D. has written five books on ELINT and EW and has published many technical papers. He has been an instructor for George Washington University's Continuing Education program, and for RAS, Inc, ATI, Inc., and for the AOC. He is also past chairman of the AOC Professional Development Committee. He was elected a Fellow of the IEEE
