As part of the AOC's suggested strategy for EW in the 21st century paper and conference, the JP 13-1 definition for Electronic Warfare must be restated to reflect the maturation of technologies across the Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS). It is now important to recognize a fourth subdivision of EW - Electromagnetic Spectrum Control. It is more critical now than ever that the management and coordination of all friendly systems in the increasingly congested EMS be focused and recognized as still Electronic Warfare... join this debate February 23 in Chantilly, VA.

This conference brings together senior industry and service leaders to discuss these challenges especially with the overlapping technologies and capabilities in Cyber Operations and Counter Space Operations.

Don't miss your opportunity to visit the nation's capital and meet your congressional representatives. CHAD 2010, formerly known as Capitol Hill Round-up, is a two-day event that includes a Future of EW symposium, a Multi-National Forum (MNF) sponsored by the AOC Capital Chapter, a grassroots training seminar, social networking and meetings with Members of the US House of Representatives and Senate.

The event will be held at the Capitol Hill Club (200 First Street, SE, Washington, DC), which is adjacent to House of Representatives office buildings. Most importantly, CHAD is free for AOC members. Registration will be open in the coming days. AOC international members are invited and welcome to attend all symposium, MNF and training seminar activities, but meetings with congressional representatives are reserved for US citizens only. Also, please note: CHAD 2010 will NOT be held this year in conjunction with the annual Capitol Hill Conference (CHC).

Join us in Las Vegas for the Joint Electronic Attack Conference: AEA Operations Supporting Land, Sea and Air. Key topics will include data fusion, net-centric operations, JSEAD transformation, AEA applications and threats to future air operations. In Berlin, Germany, the global event for EW - held in collaboration with the AOC and strongly supported by European & international industry.

A key defense official today called for long-term planning vis-a-vis India's requirements in the electronic warfare (EW) systems to cut time and cost overruns. Addressing India's first international conference on EW here, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral RK Dhowan said one of the major challenges of armed forces is to keep platforms and systems updated with cutting-edge technologies. In a major step towards enhancing joint fighting capabilities, Indian Armed Forces on Tuesday promulgated three joint operational doctrines, including a Joint Doctrine for Electronic Warfare.

While the furor over cyber-attacks against Google has lapsed somewhat, the Sino-American confrontation over the larger issue of Internet security and global digital warfare is expected to intensify in the near future. (Asia Times Online)

Just before noon Friday, the last of the Marine flying fighters from Iraq taxied up the runway to home base at VMAQ-3 squadron's hangar at Cherry Point air station. (New Bern Sun Journal)

The Navy's top officer said he's "pleased" with the service's shipbuilding plan, which includes additional submarines, electronic warfare aircraft, joint high-speed vessels and a large-deck amphibious ship for the Marines. (Marine Corps Times)

"We don't need any more sensors! We have enough sensors," Army Brig. Gen. Thomas Cole complained to an audience of military and industry players at a recent AFCEA International gathering. It was a rather unsettling statement from the program executive officer for intelligence, electronic warfare and sensors. (Defense Systems)

Even Robert Gates, the American defense secretary, admits that the $708 billion requested by Barack Obama for defense spending next year is "a massive number." The Pentagon was exempted from the administration's spending freeze; the surge in Afghanistan consumes all the savings from the drawdown from Iraq. (The Economist)

Unlike Julius Caesar, the JSF program will survive March. However, it may suffer a couple of more wounds to go with those received earlier this year. The Pentagon's Selected Acquisition Reports (SARs) will be released and are likely to show a critical breach of Nunn-McCurdy cost-escalation limits, leading to a mandatory program review. (Aviation Week)
