Dixie Crows' Counterfeit Component Seminar

Counterfeit Component Seminar

The Dixie Crow Chapter of the AOC sponsored a very successful Counterfeit Component Seminar on 15 June 2010 at the Warner Robins MERC Auditorium to provide information about counterfeit electronic components used in military and commercial equipment.

Experts from Symetrics Industries, Mr. Rick Stanton, McNeal Professional Services, Mr. Dave McDonald and ALFA Electronics, Mr. Mark Fowler provided excellent presentations that defined the problem, identified the main source of the counterfeit parts and steps that are being taken to combat the problem.

The presenters pointed out that this problem is no longer limited to relatively high-volume/high-dollar items as evidenced by the identification of counterfeit electrolytic capacitors valued at less than $1.00 being sold by large electronic distributors within the US.  Distribution of counterfeit components of all types is a serious problem and the cooperation of everyone involved is necessary to combat the ever-growing problem.

The 80 attendees composed of government and industry professionals were enlightened and had a much better understanding of the problem at the conclusion of the seminar.
