CHAPTER NEWS: Red Baron Roost Hosts Luncheons on Hostile Fire Indication

Print this Article | Send to Colleague

The tour continues ... and so the Red Baron Roost hosted two very informative luncheons on the topic of Hostile Fire Indication (HFI). Starting with a presentation of AIRBUS Defence & Space the capabilities of their radar based flight assistance sensor system (SFERION) in detection and tracking of small arms fire were discussed. Taking the challenge of protecting our air assets against unguided threats to the next step the representative of Fraunhofer Institute FKIE (Communication, Information Processing and Ergonomics) introduced us to the methods of Multisensor Fusion. The topic was complemented by AIRBUS Helicopters with some insight about ongoing work aimed at proving the highly desired HFI capabilities of variable sensor technologies integrated on a single rotary platform under real threat conditions.

In support of our members, the AOC Red Baron Roost Luncheons will continue. Topics currently in the queue include "EW in the Electromagnetic Battlespace" and "What’s new about SEAD?"
