AOC ADVOCACY: FY 2018 Defense Budget Update

The House and Senate defense committees are moving forward on their respective versions of the FY 2018 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The House Armed Services Committee (HASC) is marking up its version in full committee  today (Wednesday, June 28) while the Senate Armed Services Committee is considering its bill behind a closed meeting this week. The NDAA will reach the House floor during the week of July 10.

Additionally, on June 25, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense released a draft of its FY 18 Defense Appropriations Act, which calls for $584.2 billion for discretionary defense spending and an additional $73.9 billion in war funding, which is not subject to the budget caps. The AOC expects some key provisions and investments in EW-related matters and programs in each bill and we will share them with you in the coming days and weeks.

For questions or more information on the defense budget, please contact Ken Miller, AOC Director of Advocacy and Outreach, at kmiller@crows.org.
